“Like many other groups Woolgoolga Probus has been affected by the pandemic over the past few years, but the club is now back to running a full program of activities for men and women who want to meet other people, socialise and get out and about and learn more about what is going on in the world,” Secretary Robyn Rooth told News Of The Area.

Probus Clubs are for active retirees and concentrate on providing friendship, fun, and fellowship.

The Woolgoolga club meets monthly on the fourth Wednesday of each month, “for an interesting and often thought-challenging guest speaker.

“We also enjoy regular outings and trips to various places around our area, meals together, a bird watching group and monthly coffee and chat mornings.”

The most recent full club trip together was to the Regional Botanic Gardens in Coffs Harbour, where members were welcomed with a generous morning tea served by cheerful gardens volunteers, followed by a guided tour of the facility.

“Some of us travelled in the small people mover, others walked to view the beautiful and extensive gardens under the expert guidance of knowledgeable gardens guides,” said Social Committee organiser Alan Beattie.

“Lunch followed at the Chill’n’Chat Café in Coffs and everyone agreed that it was a delightful day out,” he said.

“We all enjoyed getting together and getting out to the gardens.”

Looking ahead, President Tony Blair said there were exciting plans for future outings further encouraging local retirees.

“Come along to any of the events to experience the pleasures and comradeship of a friendly and supportive group of members,” said Tony.
