Students put together online profiles for their family and friends to donate to their total, striving for personal goal amounts they set for themselves in order to reach a target for their chosen prize. Students dressed in white shirts to run the course, passing through colour checkpoints, water sprays and obstacle courses as they did multiple laps of the school. Teachers at Wirreanda Public School got into the spirit of the event, dressing up in costume and manning the stations at each colour checkpoint, enjoying their chance to douse their students in colourful dye. At the end of the fun run, the students and teachers quite literally happily danced until the bell rang, in an impromptu disco in the courtyard of the school. Wirreanda P&C representative Holly McKew told News Of The Area, “The day was a great success and it showed on every students face, they all had so much fun and did a fantastic job raising funds for new outdoor play equipment.” “The teachers and parent volunteers did a great job setting up the day and running the course, and we passed our fundraising goal, which means more equipment for our students and school,” she said. Wirreanda Public School girl Captain, Sophie Cieplechowicz told News Of The Area, “Credit goes to all who helped organise the colour run, because it was one of the best experiences I have had in my time at the school.” “It was great to see everyone involved and having such a great time, and I just loved seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces.” “It’s definitely a highlight of my year as Captain of Wirreanda Public School,” she said.
