It involved a BBQ breakfast for Aboriginal and Torres Strait students and their families put on by the staff. It gave parents and teachers a chance to discuss students’ progress and their personal learning goals, and also to officially unveil and name the new Aboriginal artwork and garden installation at the school. Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Principal of Wirreanda Public School, Philippa Young, told News Of The Area, “Thank you to all our Aboriginal students and their families who could attend our first Yarn Up BBQ breakfast.” “It was a lovely start to the day to share breakfast, discuss learning goals and officially name our garden path snake,” said Principal Young. The school was fortunate enough to have Leigh Ridgeway from the AECG and Miriam Avery, M Goals coordinator join them for the special morning. It was a wonderful morning to share together, discussing important learning goals and officially name the Wirreanda Aboriginal garden and snake path “Bakal”.
