Patricia Garrard is the Association’s nominated representative. “We hope members will be pleased to learn that we have been confirmed as members for up to four years (but within the term of Council) as one of three community advisers from MidCoast Council area,” Patricia said. The Winda Woppa Association was selected on a wide range of criteria. “Membership of the Committee is a direct result of nearly two years of persistence engaging various parts of the community,” President of the Association, Ken Garrard said. Apart from community representation, other members of the committee include representatives of all Government agencies and industry groups that have some interest or influence on the management of the estuary. “We see our membership of the Estuary Committee as a significant step forward in our ability to engage and influence all the key stakeholders with regard to Jimmy’s Beach, Port Stephens, The Myall River and the Myall Lakes.” The first meeting of the new Committee will be held on Monday 24 September.
