The cinema, located in the Cinema Mall in Stockton Street, will feature a number of entertaining movies the whole family can enjoy.

These include the Lego Ninjago Movie, Captain Underpants and the hugely popular Emoji Movie.

Thanks to Nelson Bay Cinema, one lucky viewer can win a family trip for four people to Tokyo to celebrate the release of The Emoji Movie.

Marketing manager Jessica Faulkner said that anyone purchasing a ticket to see The Emoji Movie will go into the running to win the family trip to Tokyo, home of emoji and all things technology.

Nelson Bay Cinemas has three cinemas, including a disabled access entry to Cinema 3, and a candy bar.

Recently, the owners introduced a VIP membership that allows the holder to purchase $10 tickets for themselves only at any time and also offers a 10 percent discount off all candy bar items.

There is a joining fee of $25, which includes a complimentary ticket at the time of purchase and upon every 12-month renewal.
