Community Helping Community Inc is getting ready for their latest program, with community members coming together once a week at Port Stephens Church of Christ to do paper mache with an important message.

The items currently being created by the group will soon be used for a community art project, as part of their art program due to start soon.

The art program is an extension of the community wellbeing program, which has been set up to help community members dealing with the uncertainty surrounding the water contamination issue within the areas of Williamtown, Fullerton Cove and Salt Ash.

Julie Bailey from Community Helping Community Inc told News Of The Area, “It is wonderful to have the support of the Port Stephens Council in many of our activities.”

“We met with James Campbell from Council earlier this year to discuss what we were trying to achieve and applied for a Council Grant.”

“Receiving this grant is testament to the Council’s support of the community and we hope that the art program will allow for a step away from the current issues that our community is facing or perhaps even give them an opportunity to have a voice and express how they are feeling through their creative pieces,” she said.

At the end of the program, all the pieces will be brought together for an exhibition.
