MORE than 300 adventure enthusiasts from across Australia are expected to descend into Bulahdelah over the long weekend to take part in the 2016 Wildside Adventure Race.

Teams will have up to 36 hours to navigate through spaces rarely visited as they move through checkpoints by foot, mountain bike and kayak.

The teams will use a map and compass together with their own wits and skills to navigate their way over an unmarked route through the spectacular forests and rivers surrounding Bulahdelah.

WildsideAR is the brainchild of adventure couple Richard Old and Danielle Donnelly from Fully Rad Adventures.

Race Director Richard Old said they have taken all that they love about the sport and created a course that offers real adventure as well as promotes Bulahdelah and the Great Lakes.

“This race will have everything – challenging trek routes, demanding mountain biking, navigation that will make teams stop and think and scenic paddle legs,” Mr Old said.

“The course is rich in history and we have designed a race that will give teams a real adventure experience as well as getting to know the area.”

Mr Old said Bulahdelah is a community that is connected to its environment and teams can expect a warm welcome and a great experience.

This event will be the last big race for competitors before the World Championships.
