The centre is a wonderful green space with a tranquil vibe, perfect for a yoga class or simply a place to indulge in some ‘me time’. An African Drumming Circle proved a popular attraction during the opening and regular drumming circles will be held at the centre. Cherie McDougall of the Wellness Centre told News Of The Area, “While there are still things to come it is great to have all the people come to look at the Wellness Centre, on such a lovely day.” She believes that the centre provides a unique range of services and classes within the Port Stephens region. “It is good to be able to help people,” she said. Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer and Member for Port Stephens Kate Washington were on both hand to open the centre, which was also visited by Councillor Sarah Smith on the day. Ryan Palmer told News Of The Area, “I think the Wellness Centre is a one of a kind facility for the area which will be great for Port Stephens.” He believes that the services at the centre may assist people in dealing with the stress of day-to-day life. “It was great to see so many people attend the opening,” he said. Guests sampled classes and therapies including massages at the opening. There was plenty being showcased on the day from yoga and massage, to skin care and fragrant essential oils.
