Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au On arrival police and ambulance found that one man was trapped in an overturned garbage truck unable to self-extricate. Firefighters provided fire protection and stabilised the vehicle before the driver was extricated through the driver’s window. The driver received minor injuries only and no Ambulance transport was required. Anna Bay Oil Spill Crews from Soldiers Point and Anna Bay Fire Brigades attended a large oil spill along James Patterson Street in Anna Bay spanning approximately 1.2km long on Saturday 18 December. Beginning on the Corner of James Patterson Street and Gan Gan Road, the spill continued all the way to the bottom car park of Birubi Point. The crew safely tended to the spill and were back at their stations within hours. Severe Storm On the night of Sunday 19 December, NSW SES Port Stephens joined by NSW SES, Ausgrid and Medowie Rural Fire Brigade were called to multiple incident reports in the area. Strong winds caused several large trees to fall on powerlines, properties and across roads, resulting in damage and halting traffic. There were numerous power outages across Medowie.
