Flood Safety

Due to the current severe weather warnings, emergency services are issuing the following advice.

In the case of emergencies, call 000.

If you need assistance with weather related situations, for example having a tree down, flooding, require sandbags etc. call SES on 13 25 000.

If power lines are down, this is classified as an emergency.

Do not drive through flood waters and only travel if you must.

Emergency Services Assist Flood Relief

A number of local fire brigade and SES unit members have headed across the region this week to assist with flood relief efforts.

These crews have worked incredibly hard and continue to work hard to assist those at need most in this time.

Thank you and best of luck with your continued assistance.

Live Traffic App

For those making essential travel, it is vital to check the ‘Live Traffic NSW’ designed by Transport Management Centre which monitors and manages the 18,000lkm NSW State Road Network 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The app provides incident information including crashes, breakdowns, fires, floods, and other incidents.

It features strategically located traffic camera images updates every 60 seconds which help users see a visual of the safety of roads in the area.

Port Stephens SES

Crews from Port Stephens SES Unit have been busy assisting communities in both Northern NSW and in the local Port Stephens area.

Currently there are teams deployed to Northern NSW (Lismore, Ballina and Clarence Valley) assisting with evacuations, flood rescues, welfare checks, animal rescues, boat operations, critical supply runs and incident management.

Locally in Port Stephens the teams have been responding to many incidents including responding to rescue jobs and calls for assistance, chain sawing trees and branches which are blocking access, tarping and replacing broken tiles on damaged roofs with rain entering, sandbagging properties to prevent water ingress, undertaking reconnaissance in the local area checking roads, rivers and boat ramps, performing essential maintenance on storm, chainsaw and rescue equipment and pre filling sandbags for community pickups.
