For residents of Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest and surrounding suburbs, a reminder that there are sand and sandbags between the pool and library at Tea Gardens should they be required.

Please take a shovel, be mindful of how many you take and message the Stroud SES unit if more are needed.

Live Traffic App

For those making essential travel, it is vital to check the ‘Live Traffic NSW’ designed by the Transport Management Centre which monitors and manages the 18,000lkm NSW State Road Network 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The app provides incident information including crashes, breakdowns, fires, floods, and other incidents.

It features strategically located traffic camera images updates every 60 seconds which help users see a visual of the safety of roads in the area.

Flood Safety

Due to the current severe weather warnings, emergency services are issuing the following advice.

In the case of emergencies, call 000.

If you need assistance with weather related situations, for example you have a tree down, flooding, require sandbags etc. call SES on 13 25 000.

If power lines are down, this is classified as an emergency.

Do not drive through flood waters and only travel if you must.

AASFA Hotline

Due to the current flood situation across the East Coast of NSW, Police are receiving an increase in the report of Lost, Found and Straying Stock.

The Agricultural and Animal Services hotline has been established to record such instances to help our flood affected farmers and landholders.

Emergency fodder is also available to eligible persons through this line.

The hotline can be reached on 1800 814 647.

Fame Cove Rescue

At 8AM on Sunday 6 March, the Radio Base at Marine Rescue Port Stephens received a request for assistance from a 15m sail mono who was moored at Fame Cove having engine issues.

The crew made their way down to the dock to prepare PS31 for her short trip across the bay to Fame Cove.

The two people on board were happy to see PS31 by her side.

The Unit safely put the mono sail alongside its pen at Nelson Bay Marina.

These sailing vessels are very slick in the water, so it takes care and manoeuvring skills to place them safely.

Once secured the PS31 crew waved goodbye and headed back to their berth just in time for lunch.
