Medowie Tidy Towns members Ms Pauline Avery and Mr Geoff Dingle recorded damage carried out on Friday evening the 24 March to the Coolabah playground reserve, with deep tracks churned by a car into the grounds and spraying mud and debris over paving and the children’s play equipment. Mr Dingle told Medowie News Of The Area, “It was only this same afternoon around 4.00pm I took my grandchildren to the Coolabah park to enjoy the rope climb and swing complex, they had great time with the youngest making the climb to the very top for the first time.” “They would be devastated to see this mess.” “This was a deliberate act of vandalism and makes a strong argument for higher police presence after sunset in our community.” In recent weeks there has been damage to Boyd, Ferodale, Yulong and Kindlebark ovals, and there is bound to be more if the people responsible are not held to account. If you, or anyone you know, has any information about any recent incidents they should contact the Police Assistance Line and report any intelligence including times, numbers of people and description, car type, make and colour. Any information that can be provided will be used by local police to build information that may lead to finding the people responsible. Mr Dingle also added, “Medowie needs an increased police presence after hours with many socially unacceptable incidents reported in the past few weeks.” “I have noted an increased police presence in daylight hours, but these incidents need to be reported so that the records show what is needed for evening patrols when schedules are made.” Medowie needs to take a stand with anti-social behaviour, and report those who are ruining its peace and safety.
