URUNGA bowlers played the major /minors open gender pairs over the weekend with some very good bowls played on both days, after the start of games were completed it was no surprise who reached the next levels although some games were very close.

Semi finals saw Eric and Lesley Whittaker play John Bradley and Craig Simpson, and Game 2 was played by the young guns joining forces, Josh Shearim and Aaron Chojniki, played by Dave Miles and Pete McRitchie.

Sunday morning Josh and Aaron took the green against the veteran John Bradley and another young player Craig Simpson.

The game was close all the way ,a couple of nice scores from both teams after each other found the score with little change and John and Craig stood their ground with magical shots that were quite difficult to play, the young team of Josh and Aaron didn’t panic and kept their game going to finally turn the game around to become the 2022 winners.

Really both teams played amazing bowls and it is great to see some young talent coming through.
