Police have arrested and charged a man with aggravated break and enter after he allegedly assaulted a teenage girl on the state’s Mid North Coast.

In the early hours of Wednesday 17 June at about 12.30am, the man allegedly entered a house in Tuncurry through a closed but unlocked door and went into a bedroom where a 15-year-old girl was sleeping.

It is alleged the man indecently touched the girl twice before she screamed, alerting her mother and the mother’s partner, who were asleep in another room.

The man fled and police were called and established a crime scene.

At around 5.45am, police attended a house in Tuncurry, and arrested a man.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear at Forster Local Court later that day.
