The Early Childhood Network is holding a free Transition to School Expo at Tomaree High School (Multi Purpose Centre) on 30 March at 6.30pm. The Expo is designed to support parents who have children starting school in 2018 to make informed decisions and meet professionals who will be able to assist them throughout the process. Local education consultant Wendy Eves said having a successful start to school leads to “more positive life outcomes, both educationally and socially”. “Having a whole of community approach to transition to school goes a long way to supporting children and families to achieve these positive outcomes,” Ms Eves said. Community agencies, such as Gan Gan Family Centre based at Anna Bay Public School, provide programs designed to support families through the transition process. This year Jacqui Orwell from the Gan Gan Centre will be experiencing this transition on two levels. Jacqui will be supporting other parents and also taking a personal journey as her daughter Tami starts school in 2018. “Having Tami start school is a big thing for us.
