NELSON Bay Junior Cricket Club will share in $10,000 worth of grant funding made available as part of the Toyo Tires Sixers Community Grant program.

An initiative of the Sydney Sixers and Toyo Tires, the club who plays in the Newcastle Junior Cricket Association will receive a $1,000 grant to purchase new Woolworths Cricket Blast equipment.

The club is one of ten across the Sixers’ territory to benefit from the program, which sets out to help develop the next generation of Sydney Sixers stars in the shape of improved diversity and inclusion opportunities, equipment, uniforms, coaching and local promotion of the game.

Toyo Tires’ Strategy and Marketing Manager, José Angeles, said Toyo Tires was thrilled to extend their support of Australian cricket to the grassroots level.

“Coming out of another tough stint of COVID-19 lockdowns in NSW, we are honoured to be offering community support in the lead up to summer sport, which marks a milestone in the long-anticipated return to normalcy.

“We’ve all been doing it tough, but kids have been particularly affected with disruptions to schooling and social development, so we hope that a helping hand from Toyo Tires and the Sydney Sixers keeps the sporting stars of tomorrow looking forward and makes it easier for their families to cheer on from the sidelines,” Angeles said.

Alongside the ‘Toyo Tires Sixers Community Grants’ program, Toyo’s support of the Sixers will also extend to a series of fun, 90-minute, cricket-themed activities that connect the club’s WBBL and BBL stars with kids from five to thirteen years of age, dubbed ‘Toyo Tires Sixers Super Clinics’.

Sixers fans can catch all the WBBL|07 action LIVE on Fox Cricket and Kayo, with awesome behind the scenes content across the club’s social media channels.

Nelson Bay Junior Cricket Club is one of ten clubs across NSW to receive this funding, and will use the funds to purchase new Woolworths Cricket Blast equipment.

Toyo Tires Sixers Community Grant Recipients include: Taree West Cricket Club, St Ives Junior Cricket Club, Bonny Hills Lake Cathie Cricket Club, St John Bosco Youth Centre Cricket Club, Pottsville Crickets Club, Ramsgate RSL Cricket Club, BlowFly Cricket Club, South Hurstville Carss Park Junior Cricket Club and Satwell Cricket Club.

The Toyo Tires Sixers Community Grant initiative has been supported by the Cricket NSW Foundation who dollar matched Toyo Tires contribution, providing further assistance to the great work being undertaken by grassroot cricket communities across NSW.
