THE Tomaree Bridge Club hosted players from the Hunter, Central Coast, Sydney and even Qld. at the annual Tomaree Bridge Congress.

On day one, 46 pairs competed in a Swiss Pairs competition with Patricia Grigson and Titus Ling from Pennant Hills Bridge Club holding the winning pair.
Locals Sue McMahon and Judy Payne came in, in third position and were the best pair from Tomaree Bridge Club.
Day two saw 136 players competing in a teams event which was won by Chris Williams (Toronto B.C.), Jan Nicol (Pennant Hills B.C.), Pam Robinson (Newcastle B.C.) and Christo Moskovsky (Newcastle B.C.).
The best Tomaree Team was Sylvia Young, Gabrielle Goodsir, Jacqueline Williams and Tony Connelly.
The food supplied by Tomaree members for both the morning and afternoon teas was as usual a feast fit for a king.
At the close of the event everyone enjoyed a wine or beer with hot and cold savouries before heading home.
Nick Ledingham of the Tomaree Bridge Club told News Of The Area, “It was another successful Congress which is growing in popularity each year not only because of the well- directed bridge event but also the attraction of a weekend in beautiful Port Stephens with wonderful food to be enjoyed by all.
“The Congress was directed by John McIlrath who did a brilliant job keeping the event running smoothly and on time,” he said.
