SCOUTS New South Wales engages and inspires young Australians to develop confidence, resilience and leadership.

1^st Tilligerry Scout Group program has commenced for 2017, with a varied range of activities planned that includes weekly meetings where instruction and test work is carried out with members achieving badges for all kinds of challenges, skills and interests.

To achieve an active and interesting program, the Tilligerry Scout Group is recruiting leaders who are willing to commit time to the training, implementation and successful programming and functions required to be an important part in the formative development of today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders.

Ralph Francis from Tilligerry Scout Group told News Of The Area, “Leaders work hard, have fun and gain immense satisfaction in seeing their charges develop.”

Scouting provides your training through e-learning, weekend live-in training courses and in-service training.

The only cost for trainee leaders is time and transport, though some costs may be covered where necessary.

There are many roles for adults in Scouts.

If you are over  the age of 18 you may become a leader of a Joey Mob, Cub Scout Pack, Scout Troop or Venturer Unit or you may have a certain interest in adventurous activities such as abseiling or water activities and become an Activity Leader.

Aside from the weekly program, members have the opportunity to participate in activities on a district, region, state and national level that range from hikes and outings, fun days, camps varying from overnight to several nights.

Camps that run for several nights include the Region Corroboree, State Cuboree and the Australian Jamboree.

Activities for girls and boys in the Scouting movement are organised in sections.

The Joey Mob is for boys and girls aged six to eight.

The emphasis is on fun and friendship and a gentle introduction to a world of challenges and adventures through Scouting.

The Cub Pack is for girls and boys aged eight to 11 years.

There are games to play, codes and skills to learn, places to see and new friends to meet.
Cub Scouts help each other, and try to help other people too.

The Scout Troop is for boys and girls aged 11 to 15 years and is one of the best kept secrets for young people.

Scouts learn by doing, and are given the chance to develop responsibility, leadership, citizenship and initiative.

They overcome challenges through teamwork, whilst enjoying an active and character building program that they have the primary input into formulating and see through to completion.

The Venturer Unit is for young people aged 15 to 18 years and the Rover Crew is for adults aged 18 to 25 years.

Activities include craft and games, hiking, camping, caving, canoeing, abseiling, rockclimbing, air activities and many more, along with learning and complying with all the prerequisites to undertake these activities.
