Last week, a generous couple who own a Port Stephens business decided to help out this wonderful service.

Colin and Noeline Karlson own and operate a small business in Tanilba Bay.

They have spent many years volunteering at the Tilligerry Habitat Reserve, seeing and assisting in its development from a sand mine to a vibrant Reserve which is a corridor for Tilligerry Peninsula koalas, a habitat for approximately 100 bird species, and many small mammals and reptiles.

Dorothea Willey, the current Tilligerry Habitat President told News Of The Area that the Management Committee of the Reserve recently approved a sizeable project to redevelop the entrance to the habitat.

This improvement to the entrance will showcase the uniqueness of the flora, which grow in the Reserve, and the wider Tilligerry Peninsula.

Colin and Noeline jumped at the chance to support the venture and proposed to donate $500, which they did on Tuesday, 28 November.

Dorothea told News Of The Area, “The Tilligerry Habitat Association is very appreciative of this donation and will make good use of the funds to ensure that this three year project will meet its objectives.”

“Colin and Noeline are stalwart supporters of maintaining and showcasing the unique flora of the Tilligerry Peninsula, and passionate about reducing the monocultures that threaten the biodiversity of the Reserve”.
