The timely restoration of Dorrigo’s Rotary clock

Rotary Club of Dorrigo members gather with the restored clock in its rightful place.

DORRIGO’S Rotary clock has finally made its way home to the high street.

Having been blown off its pedestal in the ferocious westerlies of July 2021, on Tuesday it was placed back and is sitting in its rightful place.

“Many people, locals and visitors alike, have missed the clock – even if the time wasn’t always accurate,” Sara Hankin, President, Rotary Club of Dorrigo told News Of The Area.

During the lift, the arms on one of the faces was bumped out of plum, so the south face will tell the correct time, the north face once, twice a day until the hands can be realigned.

“Life wasn’t meant to be easy,” laughed Sara.

The soft glow of blue LEDs inside the clock will add to the timepiece’s appeal overnight.

“Mark and Zack Hankin have put in an enormous amount of work in the programming, panel beating and painting.

“Apart from the mishap with the clock hands on one face, the lift was successful, and the clock looks fantastic back up on its plinth,” she said.
