FORTY-eight bowlers participated in the Wednesday (15 June) Nominated Triples event today. They enjoyed fine and relatively warm conditions. Scores today were more in keeping with good matches with the team of; Ray Prigg, Kerry O’Brien and Jamie Ellis filling third spot with a score of +26. John Younghusband, Ross Barry and Danny Johnson took second placing on +27. Taking the honours today, with a score of +32 were; Bill, (Bondi), Moon, Ron Rowe and Doug Naylor. Well done gentlemen! 17 June: There were no Friday Jackpot Pairs played today as the Club held a Pennant “bash” for all the participating Pennant players as well as the wonderful support volunteers who made the 2016 Pennant season possible. Club President, Keith Smith thanked the players, including the many reserves, the ladies who provided the best high-teas in the competition, the members of the Women’s Bowling Club who provided all the umpires for our home games, the various Controlling Bodies and of course our Might Pelican Pest Control Dolphins supporters. Special guests included Shane Reynolds, representing the Club’s principal sponsor, Pelican Pest Control. The side won 8 of their 10 games and conceded 156 shots but winning 237. A great effort! Incidentally, Grade 6 was the most successful side for Tea Gardens, although finishing mid-field they finished in positive territory 633-543. 18 June: The first round of the Club Major Pairs Championship was meant to be played today however early morning showers put paid to most scheduled matches being cancelled. Two matches did proceed when some fine weather intervened. Sean Mearrick enjoyed a win over Ross Barry 31-21. This was a very entertaining game where Ross gave himself every chance to cause an upset. At around the 25 end he was only a couple of shots behind but a dropped three and then a disastrous four on what proved to be the last end put the match out of reach. In the other game, Stephen Pell opposed Anthony Grant. This match was decided over 31 ends with Stephen running out the winner 31-15. By The JAFFA
