Society President Liz Jamison OAM said, “It has been just amazing to be able to organise our four stunning concerts for this year, and we couldn’t have done it without our wonderful volunteers and ongoing support from our supporters and donors.”

The season will commence on Monday March 15 with the Streeton Trio at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus with appropriate Covid restrictions in place for the event.

Described by Musica Viva as ‘Australia’s most internationally successful piano trio’ and named after the Australian Impressionist artist, Arthur Streeton, the trio has received great acclaim for performances all round the world.

Founded in Switzerland in 2008, The Streeton Trio won the 2011 Musica Viva Chamber Music Competition and are no strangers to Coffs Harbour audiences.

They will be performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio no. 1 in D minor op 19 and Smetlana’s Piano Trio in G Minor, op 15.

Following on from The Streeton Trio the Music Society will present singer and songwriter Lior Attar and the Tin Alley String Quartet with music from Ravel, Lior, Dvorák, Barber, and Australian composers Ade Vincent and Nigel Westlake, the performance will include the world premiere of Lior and Vincent’s work ‘Hours I Have Never Known’.

This performance will be on Thursday, 2 September from 7:30 to 9:30.

The concert series reaches a fitting climax later that month on 20 September, with Australia’s preeminent string quartet, the Goldner String Quartet with Piers Lane, presenting Dvorák’s String Quartet, Op 96 in F major and Elgar’s Piano Quintet Op 84 in A major.

There will be one more concert in early November featuring the ever-popular cellist Umberto Clerici joined by pianist Daniel de Bora for a programme featuring two of Mendelssohn’s finest pieces.

The venue for all concerts will be Lecture Theatre D, the Coffs Harbour Education Campus and will commence at the earlier time of 7.30 pm.

Tickets are available by calling Alison Herd on 0409200922 or from EventBrite via the Societies Web Site https://coffsmusicsociety.com.au/.
