THE Coffs Comets put on another immaculate performance defeating the Woolgoolga Seahorses 48-0 in the Ladies League Tag competition last Sunday at Geoff King Oval Motors.

Zahlia Keighran, Hannah White, Kassey Reeves and Megan Danvers scored two tries each with Jess Moore and Xanthi Hand who just returned from the Sydney Roosters squad scored one try each for the Comets.

It’s been a stellar opening to the season for the Comets who have scored 184 points and conceded only 10 points and as a result are sitting proudly at the top of the Tooheys New Group 2 Rugby League competition after one round.

Comets Co-captain Megan Danvers thought the team got better as the game progressed.

“We started a little slow due to the field being very heavy underfoot, eventually found our feet and started to pick apart their defence.

“The girls have really gelled after round one of the comp and our game is getting better and better every week,” said Megan.

Co-captain Jess Moore echoed Megan’s sentiments on the muddy pitch.

“The first half was slow going, as it was muddy in the middle and we couldn’t seem to find our rhythm, but the girls were tough and came back with intensity in the second half.

“We finished off strong, coming together as a team and backing each other up,” said Jess.

The ladies next match is against the Grafton Ghosts on Sunday 30 May kicking off at 12 pm.
