Teenage girl dies after being hit by four-wheel drive at Edgeworth Regional News by NOTA - October 8, 2014 Police are conducting investigations into a fatal pedestrian collision at Edgeworth near Lake Macquarie this morning. About 8:20am, Wednesday 8 October 2014, police were called to the intersection of Main Road and Neilson Street following reports a girl had been hit by a 4WD. It is believed the 16-year-old girl was crossing the road when she was hit by a white Toyota Prado. She was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the John Hunter Hospital where she died. A woman, who was driving the 4WD, was not injured in the collision but taken to Belmont Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests. Motorists are advised Main Road remains closed while police conduct examinations of the scene. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing and police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
