COFFS Coast’s top AFL Nines teams have been on cloud nine after celebrating grand final victories to conclude the Coffs Coast AFL Nines season.

The ten-week season came to a close with its grand final evening at the Coffs Coast Synthetics.

Iris Bleeds Teal won the A-grade competition, beating Northern Beaches Mixed-fits in the grand final.

Kickin ‘n’ Screaming won the B-grade competition, with a grand final win against Knuckleheads.

After the first eight rounds of competition, teams were split into A-grade and B-grade for the semifinals based on their ladder position.

Iris Bleeds Teal qualified for the A-grade grand final with a 43-point win against undefeated minor premiers All Sorts in their semi-final.

Northern Beaches Mixed-fits earnt their grand final spot with a 38-point win against Deadly in their semi-final.

The recent spring competition was the first AFL Nines competition held in Coffs Harbour since before COVID-19.

The Northern Beaches Blues will be hosting an AFL Nines competition in February and March.

AFL Nines is a nine-a-side version of Australian Rules, played on a smaller field which accommodates the smaller teams.

It is a non-contact version of the game where a one-handed touch is counted as a tackle, with prior opportunity still in play.

Games feature two 20-minute halves, and three female players must be on the field at all times.
