With the heat comes bushfires so it’s a timely reminder that our Tea Gardens/Pindimar Rural Fire Brigade is looking for new members.

“The Brigade is currently in new member recruitment mode,” Brigade Captain Helmut Panhuber told News Of The Area.

“We are calling on the community if they have the time to come along to the brigade and see what we do and whether they can assist.”

“Full training is given and the Rural Fire Service is an excellent way to make new friends and learn new skills,” Helmut said.

The Grange Craft Group recently showed its support for the RFS with a donation of $500, proceeds from their Father’s Day Raffle.

The cheque was presented by Mary Cooper and Lynda Curran from the Grange Craft Group to Deputy Captain Noel Quince.

“The money will be put to good use, such as covering the costs of Brigade members attaining their First Aid qualifications,” Noel said.

The RFS is once again holdings its Santa Lolly Run through the streets of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest on Christmas Eve.

Santas helpers will start off from the Skate Park in Tea Gardens at 2pm and wind their way around the twin towns to Winda Woppa by 4pm.

The RFS is very mindful and wants to warn parents and children to be careful crossing roads at this busy time of the year.

For a map and full details of the stopping points, head to the Tea Gardens/Pindimar Rural Fire Service Facebook page or the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Community page.
