Results from the Pairs competition are as follows a resounding victory for Lorraine Murphy and Maynie Roberts 38 v Sheril Johnson and Julie Kennedy 4. Jean Glover and Karen McPhie continue on their winning streak defeating Wendy Brand and Elizabeth Kelly 29 v 19. It should be an interesting final on Thursday. Social bowls played were 2 games of Fours. Dorothy Dallas, Dawn May, Jeanette Emmett and Kayelene Pearson 25 v Jan Kuzmic, Christine Fossey, Lily Smith and Dale Winter 17. Judi Polak, Dawn Jones, Jill McBride and Lynne Green proved too strong for Bette Saillard, Dorothy Thompson, Bev Stephens and Lynda Richards winning by 12 shots 25 v 13. Winners on the day was to be winning with the highest score, both winning teams scored 25. Both teams won 13 ends, hence win determined by drawing a card. The money went to Dot, Dawn, Jeanette and Kayelene. Bette Saillard was the lucky winner of the voucher for the Myall Bistro and Café. TGWBC greatly appreciate the Myall Bistro and Café for their ongoing support.

Thursday 16th August: The final of the Major Pairs Competition. Jean Glover and Karen McPhie v Lorraine Murphy and Maynie Roberts. A hard fought final with precise bowling by all competitors. On the 8th end the score was drawn Lorraine and Maynie didn’t add to their tally over the next 4 ends, whereas Jean and Karen gained 7 shots. On the 13th end Lorraine and Maynie gained 2 points but this was to be the last end they won. The next 4 ends belonged to the opposition, another 7 points in total. Final score 22 v 10. The Club Major Pairs Champions for 2018 are Jean Glover and Karen McPhie. Results for social bowls played were a win to Dianne Kiss, Dorothy Thompson and Lynne Green 11 v Carol Hayden, Bev Stephens and Jill McBride 8. Jan Kuzmic (swinger lead), Bette Saillard and Kayelene Pearson 15 v Jan, Sandra Leisemann and Lynda Richards 8.

Best of “bowling luck” to Robyn Beaumont who will be heading to Tweed Heads to compete in the Australian Indoor Singles Competition, 20th-23rd August. Robyn qualified for this event by gaining 5th position in the NSW Indoor Singles Competition.
