Thursday 15 September: Versatility Competition was held, teams of four, randomly selected, playing singles 15 ends, 3 bowl triples 8 ends, 2 x 3 bowls pairs 8 ends and a game of fours 10 ends. Everyone who played enjoyed the day immensely, although a few bowlers voiced complaints about about some of their shots, but then, that’s bowls. It was good to see the new members of the women’s bowls participating in this competition. Prizes were donated by Pelican Pest Control, who sponsor this annual event and Shane Reynolds owner of this business kindly gave up his time to present the prizes to the winners. Third prize, winning 3 games and most shots 45 went to Loretta Baker, Pat Baker, Bev Rhodes and Wilma Drake. Second prize winning 3 games and most shots 47 Kathie Rimmer, Kerry Faber, Margaret Smith and Jo Younghusband. The first prize winners won all 4 games and this team consisted of Lorraine Harvey, Christine Fossey, Carol Hayden and Susan Gate-Rigutto. Well done ladies. Competition days don’t just happen, there is a lot of behind the scene work to make these events occur, Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club would like to thank the following Pelican Pest Control for sponsoring Versatility Competition day each year, Shane Reynolds for presenting the prizes, the match and selection committee, the social committee and the following gentlemen from the men’s bowling club Bill Thrift for umpiring, Henk Faber, Bruce Everett and John Bilby for being markers, without the support of people like you these events would not be possible. Kathie Rimmer had a double celebration this Thursday, it was her birthday and her team scored second place, a great day all round. By Lynda RICHARDS
