The finalists, Dawn May (sub for Dawn Jones), Dot Dallas, Jeanette Emmett and Kathie Rimmer v Robyn Beaumont, Deyonne Page, Maynie Roberts and Kayelene Pearson. Bearing in mind that Kayelene and Robyn are Newcastle District bowlers (plus other accolades) and Maynie has been Club Champion for 10 years, etc also Deyonne is a “mean” bowler, it was obvious this was going to be a tough contest for Kathie’s girls. But Kathie’s team bowled through to the final with great bowling,( beating last year’s Fours Champions) so they were in with a chance. At the completion of the 3rd end it was 2 all. The next 3 ends belonged to Kayelene’s side gaining 9 shots, 11 v 2. Kathie’s team gained 5 shots on the 18th end but on the 19th end Kayelene’s team amassed 7 shots. After 20 ends the final was decided Robyn, Deyonne, Maynie and Kayelene 28 v Dawn, Dot, Jeanette and Kathie 15. A truly epic final enjoyed by a large spectator crowd. On a lesser note format for social bowls was a game of Fours and a game of Triples. Judi Polak, Christine Fossey, Lynda Richards and Sandra Leisemann 20 v Jean Glover, Sheril Johnson, Bette Saillard and Jill McBride 11. Lyn Nightingale, Lorraine Murphy and Loretta Baker 22 v Jan Coomer, Bev Stephens and Karen McPhie 12. The winners on the day with the highest margin were Lyn, Lorraine and Loretta. Winner of the voucher donated by Myall Bistro and Café was Lorraine Murphy. The First National Dolphins TGWBC would like to thank our Major Sponsor First National Real Estate Hawks Nest, (TGWBC will soon be in our new shirts), Myall Bistro and Café as well as Tea Gardens Fish Market for your continued support. Thursday 7th November: A slight change in format from our 12 end games. There was 1 game of Fours and Kayelene Pearson (one of our coaches) devised a training circuit for those bowlers selected for Pennants this year. This was fantastic, a great learning opportunity for some of us less experienced bowlers. This training will continue until Pennant Season begins mid March. The winners for the Fours contest were Dorothy Thompson, Bev Rhodes, Pam Gilchrist and Deyonne Page 18 v Sue Morris (new bowler), Carol Hayden, Jo Younghusband and Loraine Murphy 4. The birthday girl was Bette Saillard. Coming Events: Major Singles commence 19th February. The revealing of who were presented with their 10 and 40 year membership to NSWWBA badges and certificates. By Lynda RICHARDS Runners Up: Kathie Rimmer, Jeanette Emmett, Dot Dallas and Dawn May.
