Tea Gardens Women’s Bowls

FOLLOWING the playing of the Club Championship Triples Competition semi finals and finals games last week things were much more subdued at the women’s bowls this week, also some ladies were absent as they were involved in bowling events elsewhere.

The annual  Spring Carnival was held on September 5, 6 and 8 September.

This event is sponsored by Newcastle District Women’s Bowling Association Inc. This year 52 teams entered, format fours, the first two days of play were 2 games 18 ends and on the last day 1 game of 18 ends.

The teams were split into 5 sections a daily prize was given to the best performed team on Monday and Tuesday and their was eight prizes presented  to overall winners at the end of the carnival.

Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club had 2 teams representing the club at the carnival.

Playing in Section 2 were Lynda Richards, Dyonne Page, Robyn Webster and Liz Kelly we managed to win 2 out of 5 games.

Kerry Faber, Bev Stephens, Karen Green and Loretta Baker played in Section 1 they won 4 out of 5 games but unfortunately just missed out on any prize money.

This carnival  presents a great opportunity to bowlers to improve their game, playing on different  greens and competing against other bowlers at a high level of the game, but enjoyable at the same time.

We are all looking forward to competing at the carnival again next year.

Congratulations to Vicki Rankin and Lorraine Harvey, they represented the club at the Champion of Champions Doubles Competition which was played on Monday 5th September.

Vicki and Lorraine were the winners of our club’s double competition which made them eligible for this event. Despite good bowling they were not over all winners of the day.

Upcoming events Thursday, 15 September Versatility Competition and most importantly Oncology Day the 7 October. Once again Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club would like to thank all those community groups and businesses that have supported this cause.
