What a busy week it’s been! On Tuesday 29th September, the Semi Final of the Club Championship Triples and social bowls. Bev Rhodes, Sandra Leisemann and Pat Baker had a close game against Bette Saillard, Robyn Webster and Dale Winter. The score was even on the 9th and 11th ends, on the 19th end Dale’s team were ahead by 1 shot 17 v 16. The next 2 ends resulted in Pat’s ladies gaining 3 shots, winning 19 v 17. Ingrid Luck, Loretta Baker and Maynie Roberts took an early lead and never looked back in their contest against Jan Coomer, Dot Dallas and Jeanette Emmett claiming victory on the 20th end 21 v 12. Social bowls 2 games of Pairs and a game of Triples. A decisive win to Sheril Johnson and Jill McBride 27 v Lyn Nightingale and Pam Gilchrist 9. Deyonne Page (replaced by Karen McPhie after 9 ends) and Judy McGavock lost to Judi Polak and Kayelene Pearson 18 v 13. Wendy Jones, Christine Fossey and Robyn Beaumont had a lead of just 1 shot (8 v 7) on the 10th end bowling against Leona Clissold, Irene Roberts and Lorraine Murphy. Robyn’s team scored 13 shots over the next 4 ends ( 7 of these gained on the 13th end) smashing their opposition 21 v 7. The winners on the day winning with the lowest margin were Judi and Kayelene. The winner of the voucher to The Myall Bistro & Café was Leona Clissold.

Thursday 1st October: The final of the Club Triples and what a final it was. Ingrid Luck, Loretta Baker and Maynie Roberts v Bev Rhodes, Sandra Leisemann and Pat Baker. By the 9th end the score was 6 all, the 11th end Maynie’s team ahead by 5, the 15th end 12 all, the 19th end Pat’s side 3 shots in front. On the 20th end Maynie’s team scored 3, now with only 1 end left to bowl the score, 17 all. By this stage the spectators were on the edge of their seats, still anyone’s game. Ingrid, Loretta and Maynie won the end by 1, winning 18 v 17 and becoming the Club Triples Champions for 2020. Great bowling by all competitors, special congratulations to Ingrid Luck winning her first Major Championship, the smile on her face said it all. Results for social bowls Jean Glover and Jill McBride 17 v Lyn Nightingale and Lynda Richards 7. Irene Roberts and Bette Saillard 14 v Sue Morris and Lorraine Murphy 7. Bev Dunn, Judi Polak (swinger second) and Robyn Webster 12 v Wilma Drake, Judi and Kayelene Pearson 7.

Friday 2nd October: Our annual Oncology Day, with a slight difference due to Covid 19. Money was raised from lunch, bowls, raffles (prizes donated), 100 Club and personal donations. A big thank you to the following, Tea Gardens Country Club and Motel, the members of Tea Gardens Men’s and Women’s Bowling Club, Danny Johnson and Merv Mills for barbequing and to all who donated prizes, money and their time to this cause. Without your contributions the day would not have been the success it was, $4,800 was raised to be donated to The Mater Calvary Hospital Auxiliary.
