Tuesday 15th October: The semi final of the Minor Pairs Competition, a win for Lynda Richards and Bette Saillard against Judi Polak and Julie Kennedy 27 v 13. A great effort by “newcomers” Sheila Rattray and Jan Coomer in their contest against Jeanette Emmett and Dot Dallas. A drawn game 17 all on the 18th end, another end to be bowled to determine the winners. Victory for Jeanette and Dot 21 v 17. Thanks to Kathie Rimmer for umpiring. Social bowls, 2 games of Triples and a game of Fours, a win for Leona Clissold, Bev Stephens and Karen Green 25 v Pam Gilchrist, Wendy Jones and Sandra Leisemann 21. Francis Betar, Deyonne Page and Liz Kelly proved to be too strong for Irene Roberts, Bev Rhodes and Lorraine Murphy winning 25 v 12. A win also for Sheril Johnson, Dorothy Thompson, Loretta Baker and Karen McPhie 16 v Ingrid Luck, Judy McGavock, Jill McBride and Dale Winter 11. The winners on the day with the highest score were Francis, Deyonne and Liz.

Thursday 17th October: The final of the Minor Pairs Jeanette Emmett and Dot Dallas v Lynda Richards and Bette Saillard. Jeanette and Dot gained an early lead by the 11th end they were ahead by 10 shots. Despite Lynda and Bette delivering some good bowls they were well and truly “out bowled” on the day. The game concluded on the 17th end, winners of the Minor Pairs 2019 Jeanette and Dot 19 v 9. Thanks to Umpire Karen McPhie. Social bowls Anne Remmant, Jill McBride and Liz Kelly 11 v Trish Ward, Jo Younghusband and Judi Polak 10. Bev Dunn (swinger lead), Sue Morris, Pam Gilchrist and Ingrid Luck 14 v Bev, Jean Glover, Bev Rhodes and Judy McGavock 12.

Friday 18th October: Our annual Oncology Day was a great success, funds raised donated to the Mater Calvary Hospital Newcastle. All present enjoyed bowls, lunch, raffles and the Tombola. Thanks to the generosity of Tea Gardens Country Club and Motel, all our local businesses and all who donated articles or cash, a cheque for $4700 was presented to the Treasurer of the Mater Auxiliary. Thanks to members of TGWBC who helped out on the day.
Congratulations Pat Baker, Robyn Beaumont, Lorraine Murphy and Kayelene Pearson who have been selected to bowl with NDWBA for the Rose Bowl Trophy (Newcastle v Central Coast) on the 8th November at Canton Beach. TGWBC are very proud of these ladies, well done.
