Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE Dawn Jones, Lily Smith and Wendy Brand had a win against Jean Glover, Bev Rhodes and Olive McKeown. Wendy’s team had a 9 point lead at the 8th end. Fortunes changed for Olive’s side scoring a massive 6 shots on the 9th end. The final score here Wendy 17 v Olive 16. A great comeback by Olive’s bowlers. Jan Kuzmic, Bev Stephens and Deyonne Page v Ingrid Luck, Jo Younghusband and Dale Winter. This was a very evenly matched game, till the 12th end. The score, at this stage Deyonne 13 and Dale 12. Dale’s team managed to score 10 shots on the next 6 ends compared to Deyonne’s side gaining just 1 shot. That’s bowls, I guess. Francis Betar, Sheril Johnson and Lynne Green had a good win bowling against Lynda Richards, Christine Fossey and Lorraine Harvey. The score here was neck to neck till the 10th end, but then Lynne’s team gained control of the game winning 17 v 10. The final game played was a great comeback by Dianne Kiss, Pam Gilchrist and Elizabeth Kelly; this team was losing by 10 shots on the 11th end but managed to gain 12 shots on the following 8 ends to win 19 v 18. Unfortunate for their opponents Bette Saillard, Kerry Faber and Loretta Baker. The winners were to be the team with the lowest winning score but as two teams had the same score, the winner was determined by a count back on ends won. Congratulations Francis Betar, Sheril Johnson and Lynne Green. Good to see Dianne Kiss back at bowls. Unfortunately due to rain play was cancelled on Thursday 29 June. The annual Versatility Day sponsored by Pelican Pest Control was to be contested, hopefully this will go ahead Thursday 6 July. On Friday 30 June of our members travelled to Karuah Bowling RSL Club to bowl in a Veterans Day Event. This is purely a social day, open to all bowlers who have reached a “certain age” in life. Following the game everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and some members received badges for reaching certain milestones in their life. Sunday mixed bowls resumed as of the 2 July. Games start 10:00, names to be submitted by 9:30. A game of bowls and BBQ lunch just $12. All welcome, especially new bowlers. By Lynda RICHARDS
