Tuesday 18 April: Fine sunny conditions, perfect for bowls. The format for social bowls was Fours, 18 ends to be played. Ingrid Luck, Lesley Kibble, Bev Rhodes and Deyonne Page proved to be too strong a force against Wilma Drake, Dorothy Thompson, Francis Betar and Olive McKeown.

The final score was 19 to 8.

Dorothy Dallas, Jan Kuzmic, Jo Younghusband and Pat Baker had a neck to neck battle against Bette Saillard, Pam Gilchrist, Jill McBride and Lorraine Harvey.

On the 8th end the score was 5 all. Pat’s team gained 6 shots on the next end (11-5), but Lorraine’s team regained the lead on the 12th end, the score here 13 to 12. By the 14th end the tides had changed Pat’s team now regaining the lead by 3, the score 16 v 13. The difference was narrowed to 1 on the 16th end.

It was definitely anyone’s game, the result, a win to Pat Baker’s team 17 v Lorraine Harvey’s team 16.

Pennant games played, both teams won against very competitive teams.

Thursday 20 April: Grade 2 Pennant team had a bye so it was good to see some of the players participating in social bowls.

A game of 3 bowl pairs was played and a game of 2 bowl triples, 18 ends to be played.

The pairs match saw Dianne Kiss and Lynne Green defeating Jill McBride and Ingrid Luck.

This game was drawn 15 all on the 13th end but Lynne and Dianne gained 8 shots over the next 5 ends the final score being 23 v 15.

The triples game was equally exciting, a very close contest till the 15th end, then Pat’s team gained 3 shots bringing their score to 15 v 11.

Lorraine’s team won the next 3 ends but by just 1 shot each end.

The result Pat 15 v Lorraine 14.

A good win here as this team are currently third in this section of the competition.
