Thursday 6th September: Semi Final of the Open Consistency Competition plus social bowls. A good win to Maynie Roberts against Jean Glover 154 v 76. Not wishing to retract from Maynie’s win, congratulations to Jean (a relatively new bowler), for reaching the semi finals in this competition. Its great to see our members “having a bowl” in our club championships. A tough battle on the next rink Robyn Beaumont v Lorraine Murphy. Through the majority of this game Robyn held the lead by 6-8 shots. On 5 ends these competitors scored equally 5 shots. The 15th end Robyn leading by just 2 points, 19th end a 6 point lead, 25th end lead increased to 14. A different story on the 28th end 140 all! What a contest, between two great bowlers, but we all know there can only be one winner. Robyn Beaumont winning on the 30th end 153 v Lorraine Murphy 147. Thanks to the Markers and Karen McPhie for Umpiring. The tentative date for the final between Maynie Roberts and Robyn Beaumont is the 25th September.
