ANOTHER great day of the enjoyment of bowling for the ladies on Tuesday 11 July.

Four games of Triples, 18 ends played.

On Rink 2, Dawn May, (visiting bowler from Castle Hill), Pam Gilchrist and Lynda Richards v Carolyn Bywater, Francis Betar and Jill McBride.

This was a very close contest on the 17th end, “even Stevens” but my team scored seven points on the last end, unbelievable!

I think we had luck on our side.  Final score 14 v 21.

On the next Rink Dawn Jones, Ingrid Luck and Loretta Baker were struggling against Pauline Perry, Kerry Faber and Carol Hayden.

It was great to see Pauline back at bowls, she has been absent due to a shoulder injury.

Pauline requested to play only half a game due to just “coming back”.

Well she bowled deadly and then Dorothy Thompson stepped in to finish the game for her and Dorothy bowled equally well.

Loretta’s team lost by 10 shots. Dorothy Dallas, Lily Smith and Karen McPhie were not having a good day either against Wilma Drake, Sheril Johnson and Wendy Jones. Karen’s team 9 v Wendy’s 21.

Bev Dunn, Bette Saillard and Maynie Roberts also had a good win over Dianne Kiss, Bev Stephens and Dale Winter.  Final score 26 v 12.

The win was to be granted for shots plus ends.

Two teams tied so the winner was determined by margins.

The winning team was Bev Dunn, Bette Saillard and Maynie Roberts.

Luckily the rain dispersed on Thursday 13 July and a small group of lady bowlers played.

Just two games of Triples with Ingrid Luck playing “swinger” lead for Lynda Richards and Elizabeth Kelly opposing Karen Green and Karen McPhie.

This game could have gone to either team but on the last end Elizabeth’s team gained 5 shots, giving them victory 14 v 10. Dorothy Thompson, Sheril Johnson and Maynie Roberts also had a close contest against Bette Saillard, Bev Stephens and Loretta Baker.

Loretta’s team winning 13 v 11.

The winner for the day determined by the lowest score was Loretta’s team.

Club Championship Triples commences on the 15 August, drawn 8 August.

Just a reminder, Sunday Mixed Bowls continues all welcome.

Bowl to great music, enjoy meeting people, learn to bowl, have lunch and have fun.

Names to be submitted by 9.30. Play commences 10.00. Cost $12. See you there.
