IT has been a busy week of bowling for club members this week.

On Monday 19 June Lynda Richards, Robyn Webster, Deyonne Page and Karen McPhie headed to Fingal Bay to bowl at their Invitation Day.

Unfortunately, we didn’t end the day as winners,  a loss in one game and a draw in the next.

A great day, enjoyed by all participants.

Tuesday 20 June: Our annual Trophy Day against Lemon Tree Passage Women’s Bowling Club.

This was the fourth year for this event.

Our club have been the winners of the trophy for the past three years. Format for play Fours, six teams from each club competing.

Winners decided by adding scores from each game.

We ended the day with two wins and a drawn game, sadly not good enough.

Lemon Tree Passage 128 v Tea Gardens 89.

Congratulations to Lemon Tree Passage but next year will be a different story. No social bowls played.

Thursday 22 June: Two games of Triples, 18 ends played.

On Rink 4 Bev Dunn, Sheril Johnson and Lynn Green were leading on the 6th end  8 v 0 against Bette Saillard, Dorothy Thompson and Carol Hayden.

Carol’s  team fought back and were down by one shot on the 14th end.

Lynne’s team claimed victory winning 19 v 14. Great bowling ladies.

Rink 4 was a contest between Francis Betar, Karen Green and Karen McPhie v Ingrid Luck, Robyn Webster and Deyonne Page.

Winners here Karen’s team 27 v 13. To quote from a member of the losing team, “We lost, badly, basically through back, foot injury and one player trialling new bowls”.

Perhaps, the other team bowled well? No comment.  That’s bowls,  you have to love the game. The winners for the day with the highest score were Francis Betar, Karen Green and Karen McPhie.

Coming events Versatility Day on Thursday 29 June; this is an annual event sponsored by Pelican Pest Control. Veterans Day at Karuah Bowling Club on the 30 June, 18 of our members are bowling in this event.

Good luck, ladies enjoy your day.

Sunday mixed bowls recommences on 2 July, names to be submitted by 9.30am play starts 10.00am.
