On Rink 1 Beverly Thrift, Pam Gilchrist and Lynne Green were leading by 11 shots at the completion of the 15th end. Their opposition Dawn Jones, Carolyn Bywater and Maynie Roberts amassed 9 shots over the next three ends resulting in just losing the match by 2 shots, 19 v 17. A good win for Ingrid Luck, Dorothy Thompson and Julie Kennedy 19 v Jean Glover, Bev Rhodes and Jill McBride 10. Judi Polak, Bette Saillard and Karen McPhie led all the way against Sheril Johnson, Christine Fossey and Lynda Richards winning by 3 shots 17 v 14. The Fours game was fairly evenly matched until, victory went to Francis Betar, Carol Hayden, Bev Stephens and Lorraine Murphy 18 v Francis, Jeanette Emmett, Dawn May and Karen Green 13. Congratulations to Sheril Johnson, this week’s raffle winner. Thanks to the Myall Bistro and Café for providing the raffle prize.

Thursday 27th September: The Ruth Bowden Trophy Day was held, this is an annual event between Karuah Women’s Bowling Club and Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club. Last year the Trophy went to Karuah our bowlers were keen to claim it back. Format for play 6 games of 3 bowls Triples, 18 ends. Play was on the synthetic green which could have proved a challenge for some of the bowlers from Karuah, despite this the competition was tough. The victors I am pleased to report were TGWBC 124 v 91. Following play all enjoyed lunch in the Myall Bistro and Café. Thanks to our Social Committee Dale Winter, Ingrid Luck and Bette Saillard for your contribution to this event. Prior to play birthday greetings were announced to Marian Lilly (Karuah) and Pam Gilchrist.

Friday 28th September: Robyn Beaumont, Lorraine Murphy, Maynie Roberts and Kayelene Pearson represented our club at the Newcastle District Versatility Competition. Robyn won her Singles game and Lorraine, Maynie and Kayelene had a win in their Triples game. In the Pairs a win for Robyn and Kayelene and a loss by 3 shots for Lorraine and Maynie in their match. Next the Fours, this team was holding 3rd spot in the Competition at this stage. Unfortunately a loss in the Fours put them out of the winners circle. Great effort ladies, you did well.

Coming events: 4th October the final of the Open Consistency between Robyn Beaumont and Maynie Roberts. The 9th October Round 1 of the Minor Pairs. The 19th October Oncology Day. Thanks to all of our local business’s/community members that have already generously donated to this cause. Your response as always is magnificent.
