Lyn Nightingale and Dale Winter gained control of their game bowling against Dawn Jones and Loretta Baker on the 9th end and never looked back, winning 17 v 10. Dawn May and Robyn Webster led all the way v Pam Gilchrist and Dot Dallas, on the 12th end they were 8 shots in front, 14 v 6. This lead was reduced to 3 by the 17th end ( 14 v 11). The 18th end belonged to Pam and Dot scoring 4 shots and winning the match 15 v 14. A very tight contest on the next rink, with just 3 ends left to bowl the score was 10 all, victory to Francis Betar, Deyonne Page and Judy McGavock 16 v Jan Coomer, Judi Polak and Maynie Roberts 11. A great effort from Jill McBride, Jean Glover and Bette Saillard, progressing from being 8 shots down on the 7th end to a 1 shot difference on the 16th end. Ultimately being defeated by 4 shots, the winners Sheril Johnson, Irene Roberts and Sandra Leisemann. The winners on the day winning with the lowest margin were Pam and Dot. Robyn Webster was the raffle winner, many thanks to the Garden Eatery for their donation of the raffle prize. Thursday 13 May: Format for bowls 12 ends, 3 bowls Triples. NDWBA Singles Championship, (10 May- 12 May): Congratulations to Robyn Beaumont, 37 competitors in this Championship, Robyn bowled through to the Semi Finals, the final 4, her opponent now Genevieve Delves. First some background information regarding Genevieve who bowls for Raymond Terrace, District Runner Up, Australian Indoor Champion and Emerging Jackaroo just to mention a couple of her achievements. Robyn was down by 1 shot on the 8th end (5 v 4), by the 16th end Robyn was losing by 12 shots ( 20 v 8). At this point, I need to add in a Singles game the winner is the first to score 25 shots. The next 6 ends belonged to Robyn gaining 13 points, now it’s an even game 21 all. Friday 14 May: The Inaugural NDWBA City v Coast Challenge. NDWBA selected players from every Club in the District from Grade 1 to Grade 4. Seven teams for each side, format Fours, 21 ends.
