Congratulations to Robyn Beaumont and Dale Winter for their momentous achievement in being Runners Up in NDWBA Open Pairs Championship. They made it to the Semi Final of this Championship which was contested on the morning of Friday the 1 May at Nelson Bay, the Final to be held in the afternoon. They defeated Janine Papworth and Cheryl Field 22 v 10, from Soldiers Point. Robyn and Dale bowled brilliantly against very “stiff” opposition Betty Herbetson and Melissa Witts from Soldiers Point. At this point in the story I would like to quote Robyn Beaumont, “A big thank you to my wonderful skip, so cool and calm and having an absolute hoot frustrating her younger opposition with her beautiful old black bowls. “It was a hard two days, we were the only team to make the final to play 2 games a day, over 360 bowls.” Well done to you both TGWBC are very proud of your achievement. Coming events: Bring a Friend to Bowls Day, combined with the Biggest Morning Tea and Golden Oldies on Thursday 6 May. State Carnival, Foster Monday 17 May till Friday 21 May.
