Triples 18 ends and a game of Fours 18 ends. The Fours game was evenly matched on the 13th end, they were 10 all then Lyn Nightingale, Bev Rhodes, Jill McBride and Robyn Beaumont won the 14th end by 1 shot. Unfortunately that was the last end they won. Sheril Johnson, Bette Saillard, Ingrid Luck and Robyn Webster were the victors here winning by 4 shots 15 v 11. A good “come back” by Pam Gilchrist, Judi Polak and Dot Dallas who were down by 5 shots on the 11th end v Sue Morris, Wendy Jones and Jeanette Emmett. They had narrowed the gap to just 2 shots by the 15th end ultimately losing by 3 shots, Jeanette’s team winning 13 v 10. Sheila Rattray, Dawn May and Karen McPhie led all the way against Lynda Richards, Deyonne Page and Dale Winter on the 14th end they held a lead of 5 shots by the finish this tally was reduced by 3. They were the winners 15 v 12. The winners on the day winning with the lowest margin were Sheila, Dawn and Karen. “Lucky by name, lucky by nature” Ingrid Luck was the raffle winner, many thanks to The Garden Eatery for their donation of the raffle prize. Thursday 22 April: Social bowls, plus the Semi Final and Final of NDWBA Triples Championship. Format for social bowls 3 games of Triples 12 ends the selectors decided to give some “less experienced” bowlers a go at being Skip. Loretta Baker, Irene Roberts and Judi Polak on the 9th end held a lead of 10 shots (13 v3). The next 4 ends belonged to Dot Dallas, Sheila Rattray and Jean Glover scoring a 3 then a 5,1 and a 1, resulting in a drawn game 13 all. Sue Morris, Julie Kennedy and Jill McBride started strongly against Wilma Drake, Bev Dunn and Bette Saillard, a 6 shot lead on the 8th end, but winning by just 1 point 12 v 11. Sheril Johnson, Pam Gilchrist and Ingrid Luck on the 11th end were 9 v Lyn Nightingale, Bev Rhodes and Lynda Richards 6. The unexpected happened Lynda’s ladies scored a 4 on the next end, winning 10 v 9. It was great for TGWBC to host the NDWBA Semi Final and Final of the Triples Championship. Our Club had 2 teams entered in this Competition but unfortunately they didn’t make it this far. The Final was contested by Sharon McReynolds, Chelsea McKay and Lynne Thompson (Raymond Terrace) and Dianne Williams, Janine Papworth and Yvonne Corcoran (Soldiers Point). The winners were the Soldiers Pont team 24 v 11. Sunday 25 April: Members from TGCCWBC and TGCCMBC participated in the annual Anzac Day March followed by the ceremony at Anzac Park. Wonderful to see our whole community upholding the Anzac tradition. Coming events: Good bowling to Dale Winter and Robyn Beaumont who are representing our Club at NDWBA Open Pairs Championship commencing on Tuesday 27 April.
