Red and Blue Spiderman colours were the order of the day on Saturday 11 September as a crowd gathered at the Tea Gardens Community Slipway for the Walk4William.

Stemming from an article in Myall Coast News, Jenny George from Limeburners Creek, managed to organise the ‘Myall River Walk 4 William Tyrrell’ using social media and word of mouth to get people from our area to show their support for the Tyrrell Family.

Jenny said, “Thank you to everyone who turned out today here and all over Australia, we want to keep awareness in the front of people’s minds because someone knows something and just the smallest piece of information could help get William home to his parents.”

Joining the walk along the Tea Gardens waterfront, Senior Constable Dave Coyle was happy to talk to walkers and show his support in this baffling case.

“It is great to see the community getting together for William Tyrrell, I would urge anyone with even the smallest piece of information regarding William’s disappearance to make contact with Crimestoppers on 1800333000 and help find out where William is, “Senior Constable Coyle said.

Thousands of people from all over Australia met at various locations to show their support twelve months on from when William went missing from his Grandmother’s home on the mid-north coast of NSW.

Bravehearts who are coordinating the public response side of Williams’s disappearance state: ’Somebody saw something. Somebody knows something. Somebody can help bring William home.

In related news, Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead today joined colleagues in the NSW Parliament to mark national Where’s William? Week by wearing a blue and red ribbon and attending a special parliamentary event for all Members that promoted the message if you know something, report it.

Mr Bromhead said the day was a timely reminder of putting politics aside for an important cause.

“I was proud to join with the Deputy Premier and Shadow Justice and Police Minister for a bipartisan event so that all Members could show their support for William Tyrrell and his family,” Mr Bromhead said.

“The event was an important tribute to William and the authorities and volunteers working hard to reunite him with his family.

“National Where’s William? Week is being held this week and I urge our local community to take the time to mark this event by promoting William through wearing a ribbon or also hosting a ‘Morning Tea for William Tyrrell’.

“This week marks a year since William Tyrrell went missing from his grandmother’s home and I plead with anyone who knows something to come forward – that piece of information may be the breakthrough the police need.”

Deputy Premier and Minister for Justice and Police Troy Grant said the country stands with William and his community to demand answers.

“I am pleased to hear over 300 calls were made to Crime Stoppers last week in the lead up to Where’s William? Weekwith events such as Walk for William Day last Saturday attracting thousands in support,” Mr Grant said.

“With more community groups, schools and businesses backing this appeal it will no doubt encourage more people to come forward with information by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

The parliamentary event included addresses from a spokesperson for the family, from Hetty Johnson AM, CEO of the campaign’s charity partner Bravehearts Inc. and from Peter Price OAM, Crime Stoppers Australian Director, NSW CEO and Vice President Crime Stoppers International.
