Tea Gardens Vs Gloucester Junior Soccer Gala Day FEATURED Photo Gallery Sport by NOTA - August 19, 2015August 19, 2015 The fifth annual Tea Gardens Vs Gloucester Junior Soccer Gala Day was held on Sunday 16 August at Memorial Park in Tea Gardens. Sunshine and a great family atmosphere was the order of the day with Tea Gardens turning on one of the nicest days imaginable for the friendly competition. A good crowd was on hand to see under 7’s, under 11’s and under 15’s teams battle it out for a best of three result. The Tea Gardens Soccer Club went all out with a jumping castle, face painting and raffles on the day providing something for everyone. The barbeque fired all morning with Jock Gall keeping the food up to a hungry crowd. The mini’s (under7’s) played out a close encounter with the Tea Gardens team running out winners posting a two goals to one win. Outstanding local player in this game was Noah Rodgers who also won the player of the match trophy. Hopes were high for a first time win for the home team when the under 11’s took to the field full of confidence in the second game. A to-and-fro battle took place with Gloucester taking an early two goal lead which was equalled with two quick goals from Tea Gardens. Unfortunately for the Gloucester team, one of their star players fell awkwardly and sustained a broken arm during the game and our wishes go out to that player for a good recovery. The day was left with the final game to be the decider after a late goal to Gloucester gave them the win three goals to two. An awesome performance from Tea Gardens goalkeeper Joaquin Viera made a great difference in the scoreline after some great saves. The third and deciding game saw a dominant Gloucester team seal the inter-town trophy with a resounding ten goals to one score-line. Mitchell Pinch was the standout player for Tea Gardens with consistent good play and a never give up attitude. Tea Gardens Club President Trevor Officer was thrilled with the day saying, “It was a great family day with all players competing in the friendly spirit of the game.” “Everything went really smoothly and spectators and players from both sides enjoyed a wonderful day of soccer and fun,” he said.
