HOLIDAYMAKERS and locals are being invited to a very special event this Easter Long Weekend, the 40^th Anniversary of the Tea Gardens Primary School Art and Craft Expo.

500 works will be on display and for sale at the school with the event kicking off Thursday night with an over 18’s evening.

On offer will be a delicious carvery, something to wash it down with, entertainment, mega fundraising raffle and an auction of some of the children’s art work.

The Art and Craft Expo then continues over the holiday weekend, with the school open to the public from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

“In addition, approximately 100 artists display their masterpieces at the annual Expo,” Principal Mark Clemson told News Of The Area.

“Works come from all over, ranging from local artists to renowned artists from across Australia,” Mark said.

A number of professional artists will also be on hand to give demonstrations of their techniques.

Creations from children in Kindergarten to Year 6 will also be for sale at $5 each.

Organising such a mammoth event has been the school’s dedicated P&C.

“It’s all run by volunteers,” the P&C’s Fiona Mobbs said.

Since the school holidays began last week, committee members and volunteers have been working around the clock to get all 500 works of art and craft displayed to their best vantage.

But Fiona says they could still do with some help from anyone wishing to donate their time over the Easter Long Weekend.

“You could help serve coffee and tea or maybe sell some raffle tickets,” Fiona said.

“This event is the major P&C fundraiser for the school raising more than $10,000 annually,” Principal Mark Clemson said.

The event runs from 6pm Thursday 13 April, then 9am to 5pm on Friday 14, Saturday 15, Sunday 16 and Monday 17 April.
