The theme this year was ‘Escape to Everywhere’ and some stunning costumes were created to mark the occasion.

Hats off to the students and parents who stitched and sewed, pasted and painted to bring their favourite book characters to life.

“I know that there were lots of mums and dads spending hours on getting the costumes for their children just right,” Principal Mark Clemson told News Of The Area.

“The book week parade is another opportunity for our parents to be ‘Partners in Education.’

“Their attendance demonstrates to the children that education is important and something that is valued with most experts agreeing that parent involvement in education is one of the biggest predictors of student success.’’

‘Book Week’ is an Australian tradition dating back more than 70 years.

Surprisingly, some of the children’s choices of favourite characters were centuries old from the legendary Aussie bushranger Ned Kelly, to the other side of the coin, Robin Hood, who stole from the rich to give to the poor.

There were magicians from Hogwarts, minions, spies, police and pink unicorns as well.

“It was great to see all our students and staff dress up and actively participate in the event,” Mark Clemson said.
