Tea Gardens Men’s Bowling Club

Forty-two players participated in two games of nominated triples with both greens in use.

Before play commenced, the President of the Club, Noel Jackson introduced the new greenkeeper, Steve Green, to the members.

Steve has been a greenkeeper for some 30 years and so brings with him a wealth of knowledge on how best to maintain and prepare a green.

He also knows how to play bowls having played at Grade 1 standard.

Noel presented Steve with a Club shirt.

Some new bowlers were also introduced by Noel, Peter Campbell, Noel Shelly and Kevin MacInerney were welcomed to the cauldron of Wednesday bowls!

New bowler Noel Shelly had a great day sharing the winners circle with Col Fossey and Bill Heylbut on +12 and then winning the coveted Myall Bistro voucher.

The other winners were; Lance Atkins, Ron Rowe and Greg Pearson with an awesome +17.

The lucky draw went to Gary Wynne, John Moore and Dave Benson.

16 June: A cool morning welcomed the 12 players participating in Sunday Bowls.

In the Pairs games there were some close contests but the eventual winners were Dot Montgomery and a visitor, Jill Wilson-Stevens.

Sunday bowlers please note that there will be no bowls next Sunday due to the Men’s Club AGM.

In other news: Nominations are now open for the 2019 Club Triples with the first game scheduled to start on Saturday 6th July.

Single entries are welcome.

The Club has a strong representation in the NDBA Mattara Festival competition this year.

The Club has 5 entries in the Restricted Pairs, 5 entries in the Restricted Singles, 1 entry in the Mixed Pairs and a team representing the club in the Frank Neat Triples.

This is the most entries for this event from our club for many years, well done everyone!

It is pleasing to note that nominations for positions on the Management Committee of the Bowling Club, for consideration at the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 23 June, are now closed and all positions have been filled.

Members are reminded that the AGM will commence at 0900hrs and that they should be in attendance at 0845.
