Both Clubs will now be known as the First National Dolphins with the agreement commencing on 1st January 2019. Michael and John are well known in the area with both being well-known sportsman as well as being actively involved in community projects. We look forward to a long and mutually successful association. 29 August The last days of winter saw 48 players enjoying a sunny day with the ever present breeze keeping the temperature down. Keith Button from the Goulburn Valley backed up for another taste of Tea Gardens hospitality. A little rain early in the week took the edge off the grass green but it made no difference to the five teams who were successful in winning both their games. The winners on 58 points were; Rob Young, Ross Barry and Bill Thrift. 30 August The first semi-final of the Club Mixed Pairs competition was played today with the defending champions, Bette and Col Saillard opposing Robyn and Scott Beaumont. Bette and Col are well known for their draw game and this contrasted with the style of the Beaumont’s who, on this occasion, resorted to a more aggressive style of play that is emerging in the modern game. Call me old fashioned but I’d rather have 50% of something than 100% of nothing. Bette and Col established a good lead and were not fazed with the drives of their opponents. They secured a place in the finals with a convincing 22-16 win. 1 September Spring arrived with a vengeance today with a very strong south-westerly wind making play uncomfortable for the remaining semi-final of the Club Mixed Pairs contested by Graham and Liz Kelly and Sandra Leisemann and Merv Mills. Merv and Sandra established an early lead and lead by 5 shots at the half-way mark. They managed a 5 on the 11th end to stamp their authority on the game and saw their way into the final with a 20-7 win. Congratulations to both teams for playing in atrocious conditions. The final of the Club Mixed Pairs will be played on Sunday 9 September commencing at 1.00 pm. In other news; The Sunday Bowlers are having a game away with the Belmont Sports Bowling Club, playing at Adamstown Bowling Club on 9 September. There is a visit scheduled next Saturday 8 September from the Bay Bowlers. The event is open to both men and women players. The word is that they are bringing a big team and the more Tea Gardens players participating will give them a good match. Nominations are now open for one of the premier events of the year, the Palm Lake Resort Open Mixed 3 Bowl Pairs scheduled for Saturday and Sunday 13/14 October. This competition, with big money at stake, will have a field limit of 28 teams so get in early for a spot. By The JAFFA
