Tea Gardens Lions Club opens nominations for Citizen of the Year Myall Coast Myall Coast by News Of The Area - Modern Media - October 30, 2024 The Lions Australia Day breakfast on Moira Parade is a staple of the local January calendar. ANOTHER year approaches its end, and the Tea Gardens Lions Club is asking locals to consider a few special citizens to reward for their dedication and efforts on behalf of the community. Every year, the Lions Club hosts a localised version of ‘Australian of the Year’, which is, perhaps by its very nature, more meaningful for those who live and work in the area. Last January’s winners included members of the local Surf Life Saving Club who have dedicated years to the safety and wellbeing of visitors and locals. Other past winners have included long-time volunteers for the Free Clinic Bus, and a young lady who served above and beyond with Meals on Wheels, as well as other local sporting and entertainment personalities.
