But first off, domestically, rain washed out play in the usual Wednesday Gala Day. It again washed out play in the Fabulous Friday Open Pairs and put paid to any play on Sunday morning by the Sunday Bowlers and the scheduled commencement of the Club Pairs Championship. Although our Wednesday bowlers could not play, the Mighty Dolphins Grade 4, Mid-Week Pennant side travelled down to Mayfield West, who happened to have a synthetic green above flood level, where they had a great win. The Greg Pearson team, so far undefeated, continued on their winning way with a 27-13 victory. The Mark Hair team were also convincing with a 21-12 win. The Keith Smith team lost in a close game 16-18. The Final score Tea Gardens 64, Mayfield West 44. Play on Saturday for Pennants looked very much in doubt but the rain cleared off for a few hours enabling play to start on time. Tea Gardens hosted two home games with the as yet undefeated Mighty Dolphins Grade 3 side playing Toronto Workers and the Grade 5 Dolphins engaged in a local derby against the Karuah Reds. In Grade 3, Stephen Pell’s side won by the largest margin, winning 26-11. The Sean Mearrick team were also convincing with a 22-13 victory. The Richard Lee team played with luck against them and lost 18-28. The Master Board score was Tea Gardens 66, Toronto Workers 52. Great win! The Mighty Dolphins Grade 5 side kept the winning streak going with a satisfying win over our neighbours, 76-59. All teams won their individual games with the Ron Webster side recording the highest winning margin, 31-21. The Keith Smith team maintained the momentum, winning 24-18, whilst the Kerry O’Brien team played a nail-biter, winning by one shot on the last end. They won 21-20. Great team effort! Not to be outdone, the Mighty Dolphins Grade 6 side travelled over to Soldiers Point, who just happen to have a covered green. The Doug Naylor team had their feathers ruffled a little by Soldiers Point losing their game 18-30; however, the remaining two teams brushed away their opponents to carry the day 67-55. Leigh Hunt’s team won comfortably 25-14, (hear tell Leigh was the man of the match!), and the Max Stephens team had a resounding win 24-11. It does not get any better than four wins out of four.
