Support Families with Support-a-Family Christmas Appeal

CHRISTMAS is a time for giving.

Four charities in Coffs Harbour are working together to enable people to give to families who need some extra help this year at Christmas via the Support-a-Family Christmas Appeal.

Leon Walsh, President of St Augustine’s Conference, St Vincent de Paul Society, Coffs Harbour, said he was excited about the project and pleased that Coffs Coast News Of The Area was able to support the endeavour.

The St Vincent de Paul Society is one of several charities who have compiled a list of families in the area in need and are asking for the Coffs community to help those in the community who are struggling to make ends meet.

The society works throughout the year to assist people requiring help with bills, food items, clothing and more.

The society is joined by three other charities to bring joy this year to locals in the community.

Life House Care, The Salvos, Lifeline and Vinnies are working together to continue the program, the Support-a-Family Christmas Appeal, similar to one run locally in previous years, the Adopt a Family Appeal.

The community-based Christmas hamper style appeal encourages supporters to buy Christmas items such as gifts, non perishable food, decorations and so on that will transform a family’s holiday this year.

See page 29 for a list of families requiring assistance.
